Cartagena

Port city full of character on the Costa Calida

Cartagena is a port city full of character on the Costa Calida, where a rich history blends seamlessly with a modern, lively atmosphere. The city is home to impressive Roman remains, such as the ancient theater, and offers an atmospheric historic center full of charming squares, boutiques and cultural attractions. Thanks to the combination of heritage, architecture and sea, Cartagena has a unique look that feels both authentic and stylish.

The city is also known for its high-quality restaurants and cozy bars.

In addition to culture, Cartagena offers an excellent coastal lifestyle. The wide promenade, the marina and the nearby beaches make it an ideal place to relax.

Parque Regional de Sierra Espuña

San Pedro del Pinatar

San Pedro is a small town in the north of Murcia, it is located between the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea. The popular area is located directly on the small inland sea, the Mar Menor and the salt lakes with their flamingos. This is a beautiful statue and you really must have seen it.

Due to the centuries-long operation of the areas in the very salty water of the Mar Menor, natural moddder baths have been created, which are known for their therapeutic properties.

Along the coast there is a choice of terraces where you can enjoy the local tapas.

Parque Regional de la Pila

  • Location: Northeast of Murcia, near Fortuna and Abarán.
  • Features: A mountainous nature reserve with impressive views and quiet hiking trails, ideal for nature lovers who want to avoid the crowds.

Los Alcazares

Water sports come here in all shapes and sizes. Due to the favorable natural conditions in the Mar Menor, many sports can be practiced such as: flyboarding, water skiing, paddle and kayaking. In Los Alcázares there are several schools where you can become proficient in sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing and canoeing.

For an exploration of the Mar Menor, visitors can take advantage of the free boat ride on the inland sea. The trip takes about an hour and offers the opportunity to see the islets in the Mar Menor and learn and discover more interesting things about the saltwater lagoon

The La Hita Nature Reserve. On the border with Santiago de la Ribera, behind La Hita beach, lies this salt marsh with a remarkably rich vegetation and small wetlands. The area is rich in waterfowl and has a protected status. Walkways made of wooden decking make it easy to walk around the reserve. Bird lovers would do well to bring a camera and binoculars.
